Week 2
It’s two games and two victories for the Canora Cobras, as they opened up play in the Fishing Lake Hockey League this past weekend.
On Friday night, despite being outshot 26-23, the Cobras made their opportunities count against the Kelvington Wheat Kings for a 9-3 victory. Todd MacMurchy, Kevin Monastyrski, and Daniel Lamb each scored twice, while Sean Kolodzjieski, Graham Lamb, and Zack Woloshyn notched singles for the Cobras.
Jeremy Hrebenik stopped 23 of 26 shots for the victory.
On Saturday night, the line of Daniel Lamb, Todd MacMurchy, and Zack Woloshyn combined for a mind-boggling 19 points in leading the Cobras to an 8-3 victory over the Foam Lake Flyers. MacMurchy scored 4 times and added 3 assists, while Woloshyn and Lamb scored twice each. Jeremy Hrebenik made 33 saves in the victory.
The Cobras will enjoy Grey Cup weekend without any hockey games, as the next scheduled game is on Saturday December 1st, when the defending league champions from Kelliher pay a visit to Canora for an 8:00 game. On Sunday December 2nd, the Theodore Buffaloes make their first visit to Canora since they ousted the Cobras in the 2006 playoffs. Game time on Sunday is 4:00.
